3 Easy Ways to Read/Write NTFS Drive in Mac OSX With Free Application

How to easily read and write NTFS drive on mac os x with free application.

During use Mac os x and even a hackintosh pc, one of the obstacles in everyday situations is when we want to write data to the drive using NTFS format.
things like this due to its many windows computer users. can almost be said to be all flash drives connected to the average Windows is using NTFS instead of FAT32 format.
understandable, lately fat32 format is becoming obsolete, because of limitations in storing size in one file. if NTFS are able to save a file with a size above 4 gigabytes, while the flash drive with FAT32 format only capable of storing a maximum file size of no more 4giga. so it is not surprising that today we rarely encounter some flash drive with FAT32 format.

Last of the matter is the lack of support from the Mac OS X operating system that is not able to perform read and write data to drives with NTFS format. so there are still plenty of multiple mac os x nor hackintosh user more prefer applications such as Tuxera and Paragon for their system for able to perform read and write to an NTFS drive. but if you want to save costs, actually also provided a way for us to be able to copy and paste data to the drive ntfs without the cost to purchase additional applications. I will explain the three sections below.

1.Editing Fstab With Terminal

This method is able to copy data to the drive ntfs files without the aid of additional applications such as tuxera and paragon. but it is more manual. do I just write one line fstab configuration file located in the folder / etc.
steps as below:

1. Open terminal (located in Utilities folder). when terminal appearing, type below command on terminal screen.
   "diskutil info /Volumes/your_ntfs_drive" copy ntfs drive uuid into the clipboard.
2. Then type on terminal "sudo nano /etc/fstab" (without quote) and press enter key on your keyboard. then type your mac os x password, and press enter. you'll be brought to a nano interface on your terminal screen.
3. Type configuration below on nano screen :
   UUID=your_uuid_ntfs_drive none ntfs rw,
   replace on driveUUID with your own ntfs uuid drive. The final line should look like this (just example : UUID=222-333-444 none ntfs rw,
4. After you write the configuration line in the fstab file, make sure you write correctly. after you think fine. then press the key combination on the keyboard,  Control + O to write configuration then press Control + X to exit the nano editor. then reboot your mac-hack.

Deficiency of this event is mac os x not automatically mount on a drive that already we put in fstab. so we need to apply manual step to access our NTFS drive.
to access the NTFS drive that we had been add on fstab, we must open /Volumes on finder.
open your finder with Ntfs drive pluggin on your pc. then click finder menu bar, click Go to Folder >> then type /Volumes and press Enter on your keyboard. now you can mount your NTFS drive then drag Ntfs volume icon into finder sidebar for easyle to access.

Disadvantage

We need to write the above configuration on each different uuid of ntfs drive in to fstab file.

2. Install Free NTFS Driver For Mac OS X 

Download free NTFS driver called OSXFUSE and NTFS3G below :

When finished both download, install osxfuse, and select Macfuse compatibility layer in option when install. then install NTFS3G in final step. job are done.

3. Super Lazy Solution

Re-formating any NTFS drive into FAT32 is a good choise if you just want to copy single data file with less than 4giga size. you can still use it in other systems such as Windows or Linux.
